Ohio arts organizations fared well in the latest allocation of federal grants.

Mike Foley explains.

For the ninth consecutive year, the Ohio Arts Council has been awarded the second-largest partnership agreement grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The OAC will receive nearly $996,000 to help support arts initiatives throughout the state. The NEA also awarded $484,000 to 16 arts organizations, including four in central Ohio. A $21,000 grant will help support the Columbus Museum of Art exhibition “I, Too, Sing America: The Harlem Renaissance at 100.” Gotham Dance will receive $20,000 to support Bebe Miller Company’s dance-making practice. A $10,000 grant will help support the Dublin Arts Council’s Bake, Reconnect, Educate, make Art & celebrate Diversity festival. The Wexner Center Foundation received two grants - $25,000 to support performances of a music and visual arts collaboration called “The Last Jazz Fest,” and $20,000 to support artist residencies, facilities access, and development of a web portal for the Film/Video Studio program.

Mike Foley joined WCBE in February 2000, coming from WUFT in Gainesville, Florida.
