The Ohio Power Siting Board has recommended the state allow construction of a 126 million dollar, six-turbine wind farm on Lake Erie with conditions.
For the turbines to operate at night during non-winter months, the nonprofit Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation must obtain approval on a plan to monitor the impact of the turbines on birds and bats. Plans call for the turbines to be built 8 to 10 miles northwest of Cleveland. Construction would start in 2021.
