CCS Panel Votes To Close Siebert Elementary School
The Columbus Board of Education is looking at ways to deal with shifting student populations.
At a meeting last night, the board began looking at options for dealing with buildings the district says are being underutilized. The board heard from a citizens advisory panel, which voted to immediately close Siebert Elementary on the south side. Other proposals approved by the panel include converting Marion-Franklin High School into a middle school and shifting attendance boundaries for Highland, West Broad, and Westgate Elementary schools. The board plans to vote on the reorganization plan in November. Before that, public meetings will be held on September 10, 11, 13 and 20.
