Castleberry Family Sues CDP And Cop Who Allegedly Killed Her

U.S. Attorney's Office

The family of a woman who was fatally shot by a Columbus vice squad officer is seeking more than 3.5 million dollars in damages in a federal wrongful death lawsuit against the officer, the city and the police division.

The lawsuit alleges officials failed to properly train and supervise Andrew Mitchell, who has pleaded not guilty to state charges of killing Donna Castleberry in 2018 after she stabbed him during an undercover prostitution investigation. He's also pleaded not guilty to federal charges of forcing women to have sex with him under threat of an arrest. Mitchell and the city have yet to comment.
