Columbus Police say the shooting death of a 12-year-old boy at a South Warren Avenue home Monday is now being investigated as a homicide.
Police say their initial investigation and witness accounts suggested Demitri Gore was wounded by unsafe handling of a loaded firearm, but further investigation prompted the change. The county coroner has ruled the boy's death a homicide, but police say that ruling was not a factor in the change.
