Ohio State University issued an alert last night asking people to avoid the area of High Street and Lane Avenue because of police activity and reports of damage.
The school's student-run newspaper, The Lantern, reported police were clearing the intersection, and says its reporters were pepper sprayed by officers trying to clear the area- after reporters identified themselves.
On the fifth consecutive day of police brutality protetst in downtown Columbus Monday, some police officers marched with demonstrators. Along with his top assistant, Columbus Police Chief Thomas Quinlan was among them, hours after Stonewall Columbus called on him to resign, saying officers were attacking peaceful protesters. Cops and demonstrators have clashed since Thursday , with some gatherings leading to damaged buildings and businesses. Last night featured a "face down" protest at the Statehouse, where people laid on the ground with their hands behind their backs saying "I can't breathe."
