A group of parents and alumni is calling on Columbus City Schools to cancel its contract with the Columbus Division of Police.
More than 25 hundred alumni, parents, students and teachers have sent the district a letter saying its more essential to create more training for counselors instead of allocating more money to police. The group also wants the district to create an action plan that reaffirms its commitment to the black community. The district's contract is currently up for renewal. Ohio State University student representatives are also calling for the school to sever ties with the division.
