A state representative from southern Ohio is reviving his efforts to impeach Governor Mike DeWine over actions taken to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Republican Represenative John Becker was joined by fellow conservative representatives Nino Vitale, Candice Keller, and Paul Zeltwanger filing 12 articles alleging DeWine has abused his power as governor and violated the Ohio and U.S. Constitutions.
Becker has asked House Speaker Bob Cupp to assign the articles to the Federalism Committee Becker chairs, aiming for hearings and a Senate trial before the end of the year.
Becker initially filed 10 articles of impeachment in August. At that time Cupp refused to move them forward, saying "Even serious policy disagreements do not rise to the level of impeachment under our constitution."
