Columbus City Council President Shannon Hardin has tested positive for COVID-19.
The 34-year old Hardin says he got the results Sunday, after having been sworn in to city council at a small, outdoor ceremony. Hardin received the J&J vaccine and a booster shot; he credits the vaccine for his mild symptoms.
While not as hard hit as some areas of northeastern Ohio, Frnklin County has seen a significant jump in COVID cases in the past week, with the arrival of cold weather and the omicron variant.
There have been 200,689 cases of COVID-19 in Franklin County since the beginning of the pandemic, and 1,929 deaths.
