Three guns were confiscated from two Columbus City Schools today in separate incidents.
Sherwood Middle School principal received a tip that a student was going to bring a gun to school. The principal and security officer met the student and parent as they arrived the school in the morning and recovered what police describe as a loaded 9 millimeter handgun. The school went under lockdown, and all students lockers were searched. A second gun was discovered, and that student was taken into custody. A third gun was discovered in an unrelated incident a Mifflin High School. District officials say there was no risk to students or staff, and that parents will be given more information as details unfold.
