7 Overdose Deaths Reported In 18-Hour Period

The Franklin County Coroner is reporting another wave of drug overdose deaths, this time 7 reported in an 18-hour period between Monday evening and early Tuesday.

One of the deaths was in Westerville, and the other six were scattered across Columbus. This is the third such wave since late August. The Columbus Fire Department also reported an increase in the number of calls requiring administration of Narcan, the opioid reversal drugs. Toxicology tests on the deaths are pending. In August, 18 overdose deaths were reported in one week on the city’s west side. In the beginning of September, five deaths were reported in a 24-hour period on the south and west sides of Columbus.
