Additional Lawsuits To Be Filed Against University Hospitals For Loss Of Frozen Eggs And Embryos

University Hospitals in Cleveland is facing new lawsuits stemming from the malfunction of a freezer at a fertility clinic in 2018, which caused the loss of thousands of frozen eggs and embryos.

Attorneys for families in Geauga County say they'll file suits this week, claiming the hospital was negligent when temperature alarms on the freezer were turned off. And attorney Joe Peiffer is urging other families who may have been affected to come forward before a March 4th deadline to file litigation:

More than 150 families have already settled lawsuits against the hospital, and he estimates 200 more may be eligible to file.
