AG Appealing Same-Sex Marriage Ruling

The Ohio Attorney General's office has filed a notice of appeal of a federal judge's order that the state recognize same-sex  marriages on death certificates. The notice is before the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati. Federal Judge Timothy Black ruled in December the state's voter-approved 2004 ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. His ruling applies only to death certificates. State officials say they have a duty to defend the state constitution and Ohio statutes.
