AG Approves Summary Of Proposed Minimum Wage Ballot Issue

The Ohio Attorney General's office has approved a summary of the proposed fall statewide ballot issue backed by a coalition of unions and community groups to raise Ohio’s minimum wage by nearly 50 percent to 13-dollars an hour by 2025.

The group called Ohioans for Raising the Wage has submitted more than 1 thousand petition signatures to the state. After the Ohio Ballot Board approves the measure's language, the group must gather nearly 423 thousand valid signatures by July 1. The group says the current wage puts a family of four three thousand dollars below the federal poverty level.
