A Champaign County judge has ruled the teen charged as an adult in the Liberty High School shootings earlier this year is competent to stand trial. Ely Serna has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. He has been in a mental health hospital since authorities said he posed a risk of harm to himself or others and to maintain his competency for trial. A motive in the shootings has not been released.
