Arbitrator Orders Reinstatement Of Columbus Cop Who Paid Prostitutes

WCBE Files

An arbitrator has ruled a Columbus police officer fired  for soliciting prostitutes while on duty must be reinstated.

Randall Mayhew was convicted of dereliction of duty and was fired last year. An internal affairs investigation found he bought sex, engaged in conduct unbecoming an officer and falsified a police run. Mayhew appealed. He will not rejoin the force until city Safety Director signs off on the ruling.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
