Asian Carp Testing Moving To Bait Shops

Michigan officials plan to expand efforts to test for Asian carp to bait shops in the Lake Erie basin.Todd Kalish of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources says officials will develop a plan to gather samples of live bait shipments rather than surveying every shop. The move comes after nearly two dozen water samples taken from Sandusky Bay and the Sandusky River in Ohio tested positive last month for the presence of Asian carp DNA. Officials fear the carp could harm the 7-billion dollar a year Great Lakes fishing industry.
