Brown, Portman Meet With GM Officials Over Ongoing Racial Harassment At Toledo Plant

WCBE files

Ohio's two U.S. Senators have met with General Motors executives to express concerns over repeated incidents of racial harassment at the automaker's transmission plant in Toledo.

Democrat Sherrod Brown and Republican Rob Portman say they told GM officials this week they're outraged by what's been happening. A group of  plant workers are suing the company, saying it hasn't done enough to stop harassment that includes nooses, racist taunts and graffiti. Portman says he told GM leaders the company needs to respond immediately and more forcefully. Brown says GM needs to let workers know what it's doing to make factories safe. GM says it has no tolerance for racist behavior and that it's taking steps to drive it out of the workplace.
