Bucyrus To Host Confederate Flag Parade This Weekend

Bucyrus City officials have granted a permit for a confederate flag parade downtown on Saturday. Organizers call it a display of military pride and a display of the right to fly the flag. Many residents have protested with the city, saying the flag is a symbol of America's racist past that has no place in modern society. The city granted a permit after officials found no logistical issues. In July, the South Carolina state legislature removed the Confederate flag from its capitol grounds in Charleston after members expressed concern that the banner had come to represent white supremacy. In June, nine black churchgoers in Charleston were killed and the suspect was seen in photos posing with the flag.
