BWC Board Approves Business Payouts

The board of the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation today approved Governor John Kasich's proposal to give 1 billion dollars worth of cash rebates to businesses, local governments and schools. 210 thousand businesses and public employers would see one-time rebates ranging from 5 dollars to more than 3 million in June or July. The money comes from the bureau's 8.3 billion dollar asset pool. The coalition of 270 thousand business owners who won an 860 million dollar decision against the bureau in March for repayment of overcharges says it favors the rebates.
