Cardinal Health And Other Opioid Distributors Propose Settlement Of Multiple Lawsuits

Dublin-based Cardinal Health is among three opioid distributors offering to pay 10 billion dollars to settle lawsuits filed by state and local governments over their alleged role in the nation's opioid crisis.

Cardinal, McKesson and AmerisourceBergen made the proposal as part of talks with a group of state attorneys general, according to sources familiar with those talks. The National Association of Attorneys General demanded 45 billion to cover costs from the public-health crisis. A federal judge in Cleveland has consolidated most of the lawsuits, and appears poised to approve a settlement.
