CCS Board Approves Combined Levy/Bond Request For November Ballot

The Columbus Board of Education this morning voted to place a combined 6.92 mill levy and bond request on the November ballot. Most of the revenue generated from the measure will go for district operating expenses, as well as expanded pre-k education, add more social workers and nurses in schools, and hire more teachers. The rest would go toward ongoing maintenance needs. The combined measure would raise the property taxes of a 100 thousand dollar home by 10 percent. Board members rejected a a plan to ask voters to approve a separate bond issue for new school construction.
