CCS Fires Principal Named In Data Scandal

Columbus City Schools

The former principal at Marion-Franklin High School has officially been fired for her role in the Columbus City Schools' data-rigging scandal.  The school board this week voted fire Pamela Diggs after a hearing officer found her responsible for improperly changing the grades of nearly 200 students in the 2010-2011 school year.  Diggs fought to keep her job, claiming her actions were endorsed by upper-level district officials. Former district superintendent Gene Harris has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of dereliction of duty. Former Linden-McKinley STEM Academy principal Tiffany Chavers was fired in February, but is appealing.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
