Central Ohio Physician Indicted In Health Care Fraud Scheme

A federal grand jury has indicted a central Ohio doctor on charges related to a health care fraud scheme that included marketing unnecessary prescription creams in low-income neighborhoods and billing Medicaid for millions of dollars. 

Authorities issued a 7-count indictiment against 60-year-old Bernard Oppong of Blacklick. He worked for Dublin-based Health and Welnness Medical Center. Owners Darrell Bryant and Gifty Kusi - both of Hilliard - were charged last year in a related indictment and face trial December 3. A final defendant 54-year-old Jornel Rivera of Dublin pleaded guilty in May 2018 to making false statements related to health care matters.
