Charter school bakers are asking state lawmakers to support legislation they say will help make their schools more effective. Marie Hanna, superintendent of Ohio Connections Academy, says charters could benefit from the local tax dollars public schools receive.
Scott DiMauro, Vice President of the Ohio Education Association, says public schools, on average, are required to contribute 15 hundred dollars in local tax money to charters because of the state's funding formula. He wants lawmakers to change that formula. He also says public schools must pay for educating charter students when their schools close.
