Chevy Cruze Production At Lordstown To End Wednesday

General Motors

General Motors says the Lordstown plant, the first of five North American facilities it plans to close by 2020, will end production of the Chevy Cruze on Wednesday.

The closings are part of the firm's shift toward making trucks, SUVs and electric and autonomous vehicles. Local United Auto Workers Union president Dave Green is asking Ohioans to show their support for the workers.

Seven hundred of the plant's 14 hundred workers have transferred to other facilities.  GM plans to close the Lordstown facility later this month.
