Cleveland EMS Supervisor Fired Over Social Media Post Celebrating Death of Tamir Rice

linkedin.com

The City of Cleveland has fired an emergency medical services supervisor for a social medial post saying he was glad a 12-year-old African-American boy fatally shot by a white police officer is dead. The city calls the February post by EMS Captain Jamie Marquardt "egregious." The post also said he wished he'd had the chance to have shot "the little criminal."  A follow-up post blamed someone who'd picked his phone for the original post. Tamir Rice was playing with a pellet gun outside a recreation center when he was shot in November 2014.
