Columbus Council To Allocate Some CARES Act Funding Toward Human Services

Columbus City Council on Monday is expected to consider legislation allocating more than 17 million dollars to human services programs and organizations.

Mayor Andy Ginther says 2.2 million will fully fund 44 human service programs that were competitively selected for a two-year grant award in 2019:

Ginther says the 15 million dollar grant fund will be a competitive process with application details expected to be available early next month. President and CEO of the Center for Healthy Families Toshia Safford  hopes the funding will provide some stability for families:

The grant dollars come from the 157 million the city received through the federal CARES Act, which must be used in response to COVID-19.
