Columbus Council Approves Consulting Contract With Former City Employee's Firm

Columbus City Council last night approved a 49 thousand dollar contract with a Pickerington consulting firm run by a former city employee. 

The Saunders Company is owned and operated by Gayle Saunders, a former spokesperson for the Columbus Department of Public Safety, the Columbus City Schools, Nationwide Insurance and Ohio State University. The firm will conduct outreach efforts during the city's search for a successor to police chief Kim Jacobs. Those efforts will be conducted in May and June. Mayor Andy Ginther's Chief of Staff, Dawn Tyler Lee, has worked with Saunders in the past and is now leading a search committee:

The Saunders Company made the highest bid of the three firms that sought the contract. Council also approved a 6 million dollar contract to resurface dozens of streets in business areas. Sponsoring Council member Shayla Favor:
