Columbus To Equip More Officers With Naloxone

oxywatchdog.com

Columbus police officials say more officers will be issued naloxone after the recent conclusion of a six-month pilot program. During the program, officials say 58 heroin users were revived using the overdose antidote. 124 officers were given naloxone. 25 percent dispensed the drug. Most of those treated were white women. At least 65 law-enforcement agencies in Ohio use naloxone. The cost to train and equip all 1,850 Columbus officers is estimated at 177 thousand dollars.
