Columbus Hiring Firm To Plant Trees

WCBE files

The City of Columbus has agreed to pay a landscaping firm more than 140 thousand dollars to install nearly 800 new trees throughout the city.

Some of the trees will replace those destroyed by the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle, according to city council member Elizabeth Brown.

The city so far has planted ten percent of the 300 thousand trees then-Mayor Michael Coleman announced in 2015 would be planted by the year 2020.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
