Columbus Teachers Plan Protest March Next Week

The union representing Columbus City Schools teachers plans to hold a march next week to protest city property-tax abatements and faculty salaries.

Columbus Education Association President John Coneglio says the "March for Schools" takes place next Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in downtown Columbus. The union says abatements gives millions of dollars to corporations at the expense of public schools.  The city says abatements often generate revenue for schools.  The district is also in the midst of contract talks with the union, with pay as the main sticking point.
