The Columbus Community Safety Advisory Commission is asking for the creation of a civilian review board for Columbus Police.

Officials announced the recommendation yesterday to city leaders saying the new board should work independently to review citizen complaints.  The structure and operation of the board were not part of the proposal but the committee said elected leaders, the Department of Public Safety and the police union should be involved in creating the oversight panel.  The recommendation will now be sent to Mayor Andy Ginther for consideration.
