Competency Hearing Ordered For Slaying Suspect

A Franklin County judge has ordered a psychological evaluation for one of two teenagers charged in the shooting death of a Linden-McKinley STEM Academy student on January 17th.Defense attorneys lost their request to dismiss the case against 17-year-old Shyquan Washington, arguing he was found incompetent in four previous cases. Washington and 15-year-old Jesean Callender are charged with killing 15-year-old Kaewaun Coleman at a Cleveland Avenue restaurant. Police believe the shooting was gang-related. A competency hearing is scheduled for March 19th. A hearing for Callender has yet to be scheduled.
