Completion Of City Study Of Minority-Owned Business Contracts Delayed

A study of contracts awarded by the City of Columbus to minority- and female-owned businesses will not be completed this summer.

And the study funded by the city will exceed initial cost estimates. The city says some of the data it provided to the firm conducting the study had been omitted. A completion date has not been disclosed, and the city says the cost will exceed the 435 thousand dollars it is spending on the study. The city is legally required to conduct a study to set goals for a percentage of the contracts provided to those groups. The study was commissioned after some businesses complained about discrimination.
