Congress Approves Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Funding

Congress has approved a compromise spending bill allocating 300 million dollars to The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, which faced the threat of cuts during last year's congressional budget battle.The initiative targets environmental problems such as invasive species, loss of  wildlife habitat, toxic pollution and farm fertilizer runoff that causes toxic algae blooms.
