Coroner Releases Cause Of Death Of OU Student From Dublin

legacy.com

The Athens County Coroner says last year's death of an  Ohio University student from Dublin was caused by asphyxiation due to nitrous oxide ingestion.

The coroner also found 18-year-old Collin Wiant had marijuana and alcohol in his system. His family has filed a lawsuit against the Sigma Pi fraternity, claiming the death resulted from hazing. The frat says it is hiring legal counsel, which will determine if a public comment is appropriate.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
