COTA Gets Federal Funding For CMAX Line

Plans for a bus-rapid transit line along Cleveland Avenue are closer to reality. Central Ohio Transit Authority officials say they've received a 37-million-dollar federal grant to pay for nearly the entire CMAX line. It will take riders between downtown and Polaris Parkway using dedicated bus lanes with limited stops. Fares will be two-dollars per person. The buses will have Wi-Fi access and smartphone charging ports. The line will be up and running in 2018. The line is important to the city's application for the U.S. Department of Transportation's Smart Cities challenge grant.
