Council Creates TIF, Funds Camp Chase Trail Link

campchasetrail.com

Columbus City Council last night approved legislation to create a tax increment financing district in the area of Schrock Road and I-71 that will be called the Buffalo Parkway tif. Columbus Development director Steve Schoeny says the deal will allow for the use of tax revenue to fund infrastructure improvements that will benefit a profitable private company.

The city says the Worthington school district will not lose any tax revenue through the creation of the tif. Council also approved spending 4.2 million dollars to complete a final link of the Camp Chase hiking and biking trail connecting the West Side to Downtown through Sullivant Avenue. Columbus Recreation and Parks director Alan McKnight says the money will be spent to build the final 2.9 miles of trail from Eureka Avenue to Sullivant Avenue.
