Federal prosecutors in Columbus say an MS-13 gang member who shot and killed a rival and threatened a witness will serve 30 years in prison.
38-year old Jose Mendez pleaded guilty in Ocotber to the shooting death of Salvador Martinez-Diaz. Court documents say Mendez-Peraza and an accomplice ambushed the victim near his aprtment building at Melroy Avenue and Kelbourne Road in December 2016. He told a witness that fellow gang members would kill the individual and their family if they testified against him.
