Delaware Settles Excessive Force Lawsuit Filed By Jim Stillwagon's Widow

Delaware Police

The insurance company for the City of Delaware says a 6.5 million dollar settlement has been reached with the widow of former Ohio State football star Jim Stillwagon, who says police used excessive force arresting her late husband.

He was acquitted in 2013 of a September 2012 road rage incident. Effie Stillwagon said police altered the facts and suppressed and destroyed evidence in the case.  Federal courts upheld most of her claims. City officials say they settled because of litigation costs and the risk of exposure.
