DeWine Signs Order Creating School Safety Center In Homeland Security

cleveland.com

Governor Mike DeWine has signed an executive order creating the Ohio School Safety Center as a division of Ohio Homeland Security.

DeWine says it begins its work with seven state employees, including intelligence analysts scanning social media and websites for school threats. DeWine says the center also will review school safety plans, promote an existing tip line, help train schools' threat-assessment teams and share best practices and training opportunities through a website and an annual summit. DeWine also is creating a working group to produce an annual report about school safety.
