Documents: Wagner Family Member Filed For Child's Custody Days Before Pike County Slayings

Ohio Attorney General's Office

Documents show a suspect in the slayings of eight Rhoden family members in which a parental dispute is said to have played a role filed for custody of his daughter six days after the murders.

26-year-old Edward "Jake" Wagner is one of four Wagner family members charged with the April, 2016 slayings. Wagner shared custody of a daughter with Hanna Rhoden, one of the victims. Wagner filed for custody on April 28, six days after the victims' bodies were found. Documents show Wagner and Rhoden broke off their relationship in September 2015 but agreed to share custody. An attorney for the Wagners has said the family will be vindicated.
