An Ohio State University graduate from Dublin has won a U.S. Rhodesscholarship.
Laila Ujayli is among 32 men and women chosen from 880 applicants for studies beginning next fall at Oxford University. Ujayli spent much of her childhood in Syria and Saudi Arabia, and has sought deeper understanding of international conflicts and solutions. Ujayli is a Herbert Scoville Junior Peace Fellow at Win Without War in Washington, where she advocates for conflict-stabilization policies prioritizing development and diplomacy. She plans to pursue master's degrees in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies and World Literatures at Oxford.
