Enviros Warn Of Safety Dangers From Planned Belmont County Petrochemical Plant

Ohio Public Radio

An environmental group is challenging Ohio Governor John Kasich's promotion of a multi-million dollar petrochemical plant in Belmont County.

Jen Miller, director of the Sierra Club's Ohio chapter, says the project will have disastrous consequences for public health and safety. She says it would subject communities to increased air pollution and the threat of fires, explosions and other disasters. Kasich Monday announced a new business partnership between Seoul-based Daelim Industrial and Thailand's PTT Global Chemical for the proposed ethane "cracker." The proposed plant has languished in the planning stages for years.
