Experimental Aircraft Returned To Armstrong Museum

wikipedia

An experimental aircraft flown by the late astronaut and Ohio native Neil Armstrong has been rennovated and returned to the museum in his hometown.

Restoration work on the F5D Skylancer started several months ago. The cockpit and exterior were restored to the condition they were in when Armstrong flew the craft as part of a NASA program that set out to build reusable space planes before the manned Mercury flights. It is now back at the Armstrong Air and Space Museum in Wapakoneta.
