The family of a Marion man who died of COVID-19 is reminding people online to take the threat seriously, after Facebook posts he wrote downplaying the outbreak went viral.
60-year-old John McDaniel died last Wednesday. In mid-March, McDaniel posted the lockdown was “madness” and questioned the validity of the governor’s stay-at-home order. He also called it a “political ploy,” a reference to the false claim the pandemic is a Democratic plot to discredit President Trump. His wife wants people continue practicing social distancing and keep each other safe.
