FDA Warns Ohio Not To Import Lethal Injection Drugs

www.chm.bris.ac.uk

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says the state would be breaking the law if it carried out plans to import lethal injection drugs. A letter sent to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitaton and Corrections follows a recent state announcement that it intends to obtain supplies of thiopental sodium to replace a two-drug combination it halted after a botched execution in 2014. Sodium Thiopental is no longer available in the U.S. and overseas imports are subject to importing bans. Manufacturers say they do not want their products used to take human life.
