Feds Predict Higher Great Lakes Water Levels This Summer

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects Great Lakes water levels will rise by more than eight inches this summer for the first time in more than a decade. Spokesperson John Allis says the increase is due in large part to greater rain and snowfall totals.

Allis also says more ice coverage, which prevents evaporation, is also a factor.

Allis says water levels in the Great Lakes set a record low two years ago.
