The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says as of last week, more than 186 thousand Ohioans have signed up for health coverage through the insurance marketplace created by the Affordable Care Act.
Thursday is the deadline for consumers looking for coverage to begin on February 1. Open enrollment began November 15 and ends on February 15. The agency says more than 85 percent of enrollees are eligible for financial assistance. Nearly 6.8 million people have selected a health plan or were automatically re-enrolled in the marketplace since open enrollment began.
